Apple iPhone Repairs

The iPhone was first released in 2007 and currently is on the fifth generation. Apple began with the iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS and then iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 then in September 2013 Apple released its iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Each generation has various models, defined by their storage capacity size i.e. 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

The iPhone features smart phone functions including text messaging, visual voicemail, email and web browsing, portable media player via iPod, Wi-Fi connectivity and the use of third party web applications or “apps”.

The first notable point which leads to the extreme success of the iPhone is the ultra-sensitive touch screen, different to any other touch screen
phone. The iPhone 3 and iPhone 3GS models have a 3.5inch LCD screen with a scratch-resistant glass screen covering. In addition to this the iPhone 3GS also has a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating (repels oil from your fingers).

The iPhone 4 and iPhone4S boasts Retina Display with the same 3.5inch LCD screen by increasing the pixel density by four times, as well as using In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology to achieve a wider viewing angle on pixels, and offering more contrast. The result is a more vibrant and intense screen. iPhone 5 saw the increase of the Retina Display screen to 4 inches and change of the charge port to Apple’s Lightning port.

The second notable point which has contributed to the success of the iPhone is the way the display responds to a user using three sensors- the
proximity sensor- deactivates the screen during a call by sensing when the unit is close to the face, the accelerometer- senses orientation of the iPhone and switches the display, and the gyroscopic sensor (iPhone 4 only) – movement perception enhancement.

The third notable point is the apps available- there are currently over 300,000 apps available for download.

The two latest iPhone models, the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S, feature Apple’s A6 and A7 chips respectively. The A7 chip gives CPU and graphics performance, up to twice as fast as the A6 chip. The 5C is marketed as being more for the budget sensitive, and the 5S model has all the bells and whistles. In addition to having all the features that the iPhone 5 has, the
iPhone 5S also features Touch ID, a fingerprint recognition feature. Touch ID allows users to unlock their iPhones and quickly make purchases in iTunes Store, App Store or iBook Store by simply touching the Home button.

The fingerprint information is stored in a secure location on the A7 chip rather than iCloud, for increased security. This feature alone makes the iPhone 5S a very attractive smart phone. Having ultrafast 4G LTE wireless capabilities is only the icing on the cake.

Like many other handheld gadgets, the iPhone is prone to accidents such as drops and liquid damage due to being cycled through the wash.
